Ian Slater OAM, BEc, Dip.Ed, LLB, FCPA

Barrister and Solicitor (Principal)

Ian is a graduate of Monash University with qualifications in Economics and Political Science and Law. He is a Fellow of the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants.

Ian acquired the practice of Ivan L McDonald in 1983 and the practice of Peter Lay in 1987. Ian practises in the areas of business and commercial law, property and conveyancing, wills and estate administration and social security advice.

Prior to acquiring the practice, Ian practised law in regional Victoria and is experienced in finance and accounting.

Elda Bradford BA, LLB

Barrister and Solicitor

Elda is a graduate in Arts/Law from Monash University.

Prior to joining McDonald, Slater & Lay in 1991, Elda was a solicitor in a leading city practice conducting high profile and complex local and international litigation. Since joining the Mentone practice, Elda has continued to manage a wide range of similar litigation in the areas of commercial law, family law, de facto and property law.

Elda's extensive knowledge and experience, in particular, in family law, de facto and property law is pre-eminent in those jurisdictions.

Elda was born in Venice, Italy. She is fluent in Italian which enables her  to assist clients with transactions and issues involving the Italian community.

Peter Thompson BA, LLB

Barrister and Solicitor

Peter has degrees in Law and Arts joining McDonald, Slater & Lay in 2002. 

Peter practises predominantly in litigation, representing clients in commercial litigation, contested wills and probate matters as well as personal injury claims and criminal law.

As a Rotary exchange student Peter has lived and studied in Norway and speaks Norwegian. Peter is a keen sportsman and plays basketball and football.

Andrew is an Honours graduate in Arts/ Law from Monash University, having obtained Honours in Political Studies.

Andrew joined McDonald Slater & Lay in 2006 and practices predominantly in business and commercial law and litigation.

Andrew loves the outdoors and is an enthusiastic hiker. He is also a keen member of a local church community.
